The Sector members are mainly engaged in research in the areas of Mathematical Physics and Geometry. The Sector core activity concerns the theory of classical and quantum integrable systems and their applications, algebraic, differential and noncommutative geometry. Most of the research requires a strong interplay between Physics and Geometry and involves topics which are now attracting much interest in the international scientific community.
Main research lines:
- Integrable systems, Frobenius manifolds and nonlinear waves
- Algebraic geometry of moduli spaces and Gromov-Witten invariants
- Analytic and algebraic structures in non-commutative geometry
- Integrable quantum field theories and statistical mechanics
Besides these four main research lines there are also activities in:
- Mathematical Problems of Quantum Mechanics
- Applied Financial Mathematics
